Olive Fusion

The sculptor says the following about his work: This project developed out of The book of the Olive and it is an extension of it.

After many years of having the olive tree and its wood at the centre of my attention, I realised I had begun to see things differently. The experience I had made had given me a new instrument of perception. Now I encountered other materials: other woods, or stone in any shape or form, from a different standpoint.

Yet on the other hand I realised that I should not set the olive wood above other materials just because it was my centre of attention. The next step would be to create more meetings between various materials and olive wood pieces , but now as meetings of equals. No material should be seen as finer or cruder; no piece should be set above or below another in value. There should be no fixed roles, no up and down: there should only be a fusion where all materials had been given the same right of expression.
